“Give Your Building a Flu Shot,” Cleaning Expert Says

An innovative way to protect against H1N1 surface contamination

POCATELLO, ID—October 19, 2009: Don Aslett, America’s #1 Cleaning Expert, is recommending that the owners and managers of buildings take additional steps to fill the gap in current cleaning programs. The Centers for Disease Control, he notes, says that 80% of infections are transferred by human hands.

“People want to believe that their cleaning workers disinfect everything every night,” said Aslett. But even if your building is cleaned daily, tests have shown it’s not germ free, especially on the common touch points like doorknobs, handles of all kinds, push plates, elevator buttons, and water fountains.

“My Clean Green World Center conducts Clean Audits which provide a standardized assessment of cleaning operations. These audits have shown that normal cleaning doesn’t disinfect or sanitize surfaces (it may not even fully clean them), and even when it does, the surface is only safe until the next sneeze. Transfer of the H1N1 virus from surfaces to people is a real concern and daily cleaning is not sufficient,” says Aslett. “Where we live, work, eat, and play—as well as schools—need an extra level of protection to fill the gap between routine cleanings.”

One very effective approach to this problem is an anti-microbial coating that works in between cleanings, 24/7. In our quest to find a green alternative to environmentally unfriendly disinfecting chemicals, my janitorial company, Varsity Contractors, discovered an innovative surface coating that controls flu, staph infections, mold, and dozens of other dangerous microorganisms. Once this coating is applied, common touch points and infection-spreaders like door handles, phones, and the like stay germ-free. And the protection lasts for 90 days—it’s just like giving your building a flu shot.

Varsity Contractors, the nationwide cleaning company founded by Aslett, is currently offering this anti-microbial surface coating to its customers. “This service is like getting a flu shot—it protects the surfaces before the virus is spread,” adds Mark Browning, Varsity’s CEO. Varsity’s application will combat Swine Flu, MRSA, staph, ringworm, Shigellosis, E. coli, Salmonella, the fungus that causes athlete’s foot, mold, mildew, and dozens of other undesirables.

Varsity can apply the coating to touch points throughout a building inexpensively. The estimated cost of professional application of the surface coating, spread over 3 months, is incredibly inexpensive compared to the price of illness, absenteeism, loss of business, and personal tragedy.

Varsity’s anti-microbial surface kills microbes on contact, significantly reducing cross-contamination. EPA-registered, the coating is effective for 90 days on virtually every hard or soft surface. “It offers ongoing protection between regularly scheduled cleaning visits, giving you the peace of mind that your building’s visitors, employees, and the public stay protected from surface contamination throughout the day,” Aslett notes.
